PROBATE

There can be several different steps to completing probate and even more reasons as to why it needs to be done. Perhaps you thought everything was taken care of, but it turns out the home you shared was only in one name, or you were on title as tenants in common, then you will need probate. Probate occurs when any property is not jointly owned and requires a grant of probate to release title, bank accounts, etc. for a deceased person’s estate. Perhaps the deceased did not have a will, then the heirs will need to get letters of administration (similar to a grant of probate) to distribute the estate.
